My name is James. I make games.
It's a bird, it's a plane, it's PopDaddyGames!
Denizens of Hell
This is my favorite project! It's about old school rpg fun and shooting and running and stuff and things and boom! Keep an eye out for updates. ;)
This is a series of 12 mini games that are light, fun, and easy to play. These are primarily mobile games. (You all have phones, don't you?)
This game is inspired by [Helicopter Game]-- a game developed by [David McCandless].
There are two major elements at play in this game:
- Controls: I wanted to emphasize a really fluid and easy "1-button" control system that felt like you had tremendous influence over how your character interacted in the world.Though this is at it's core a copy of the Helicopter Game "click to rise" input, I added a lot of effect to how the bird responds, with the speed and angle of response being highly variable to world details and previous actions.
- Learning: The game learns how you play! I started working on this algorithmic learning process in 2010. It tracks a great many things that the player does, attempting to figure out the "optimum difficulty" to provide. It still has a great distance to go to perfect, but it's been a freaking blast designing so far.
I can't tell you much, but I can tell you this is not a game about space.
I fucking love "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" on the original Super Nintendo (SNES). Though I can't make a sequel to that series, I am working on a game that references that same gameplay style and spirit of humor.
